Mothership One Dance Festival
The Mothership One Dance festival is the brainchild of John Clayton Doyle, dancer, choreographer, director, and head of the non-profit Harlem Dance Club. The Festival (which takes place in Harlem, NY) was created to bring not only togetherness, but awareness of the power that through dance we all are one. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you are from, what you look like, or who you love-for those 4 hours we are all one, on the “Mothership” together, celebrating and encouraging what makes us unique and special. In the end we really are all the same.
With a set up backstage, I pulled aside anyone that wanted their portrait taken, individuals that showed that they had their own unique voice, or that were not your “typical” festival goer. This is just a small sample of the 200+ people I photographed.
There is no “typical” anything and that is the beauty of it.
